Global warming is a huge, complex issue, and a lot of the debate can become disouraging. This series will explore the scientific realities of greenhouse gases, and their impacts; but most important, will focus on the many solutions that are just as positive for the economy as they are for the environment in which we live and thrive.
The solutions to global warming are well-known, and easy to understand. The challenge is that they involve change, which means that some sectors of the economy will shrink, while new ones grow. Those sectors that face shrinkage are things that all of us use daily in our lives, and we're used to them. We get it; change is hard, and nobody wants to be forced to change to something new that we don't have as much experience with, and that we're told will cost us more. But failure to stop global warming will without a doubt cost the economy far more than making wise decisions about new ways of doing things. Most of the solutions are in fact better than the status quo for many reasons, and are actually less expensive than the status quo.
