West Coast Swing - Level 2

Named the official dance of the State of California by the California Legislature. One of the most popular & universal dances in the world. Danced to a variety of different musical tastes: blues; swing; pop; country & jazz. Fun & easy to learn. By the end of this Level II Class you’ll not only have built upon & refined the skills you acquired in the previous Level I Class, but you’ll have mastered more of the fundamental intricacies of the West-Coast-Swing-Dance. Specifically, we will build on the skills of dance-body-movement; lead & follow; frame; connection; dance-etiquette; & foot-placement that were learned in the Beginning-Basic-Level-I Class—along with a variety of more impressive & difficult dance moves.

NOTE: you are not required to sign up with a partner. If you do not have a partner one may be assigned to you for those dances that need a partner.

San Francisco Fleet Week 

San Francisco Fleet Week is an annual event that honors the contributions of the men and women of the United States Armed Forces. Throughout Fleet Week, visitors climb aboard amphibious carriers, destroyers and cruisers docked at the Port of San Francisco to get a glimpse into the day-to-day lives of the sailors serving in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard.The San Francisco Fleet Week Air Show Presented by United, is a waterfront event and is headlined by The U.S. Navy Blue Angels and is the only air show in the United States with a commercial airliner to perform a fully choreographed act. Double your fun and bring family and friends along with you.

Every week we’ll explore a different cuisine from around the world. The vibrant foods of Nigerian and Caribbean cultures will all be part of this amazing cooking class!

Session 1: Jollof Rice & Chicken

Cultural Focus: West African party staple and a symbol of celebration.

Menu:

  • Nigerian Jollof Rice
  • Oven-roasted/spiced Chicken
  • Simple Side Salad

Session 2: Suya & Nigerian Fried Rice

Cultural Focus: Suya as street food and fried rice as a festive dish.

Menu:

  • Beef Suya with Yaji spice
  • Nigerian Fried Rice
  • Spicy Mayo or Suya Sauce

Session 3: Egusi Soup & Fufu

Cultural Focus: Traditional comfort food in many Nigerian homes.

Menu:

  • Egusi Soup (melon seed soup with spinach and meat)
  • Fufu (pounded yam or cassava)

Session 4: Chef’s Special – Poulet DG

Cameroonian Chicken & Plantain Stew

Tender marinated chicken simmered in a rich tomato and herb sauce, paired with golden fried plantains, bell peppers, carrots, onions, and a hint of West African heat.  A bold and colorful dish reserved for Cameroon’s most honored guests – now prepared just for you.

Learn how to be a safe and effective flagger with ATSSA’s certified flagger training courses. Understand why proper flagger operations are important and learn the standard skillset of a good flagger. American Heart CPR, First Aid, AED

CPR, First Aid, and AED is important to a community because it helps outfit individuals with life-saving skills that can be used in emergency situations, often used before professional medical help arrives. Immediate intervention, such as performing CPR or using an AED during a cardiac arrest, can increase the chances of survival and hopefully recovery. These skills give a community member a way to act confidently during accidents, injuries, or sudden health crises, having a safer and more resilient environment.
