Siskiyou EDC - Wildland Firefighting Procurement
This two-part series will provide small business owners who are interested in becoming a vendor for Cal Fire and the US Forest Service.
Session 1 will focus on the US Forest Service and the Virtual Incident Procurement (VIPR) system. This is the system the US Forest Service utilizes to develop blanket purchase agreements during the off-season, typically January through March. Participants will understand how to navigate the system, what is required to participate, how to register, and how to submit quotes and bids.
Session 2 will focus on the Cal Fire Hired Equipment Program. This is the system the different Cal Fire area units utilize to contract with vendors, which follows a different process than the US Forest Service. This course will also highlight how certifications can assist in the bidding process, how to navigate local area units with assistance from the small business advocate at Cal Fire.
Note: The local SBDC has partnered with Shasta College to bring a series of professional development courses. These courses are beneficial to anyone with a small business or those looking to start a small business.
