Advanced Search Operations

Advanced firefighter search techniques focus on rapid, methodical searches, prioritizing victim rescue in hazardous environments. Key techniques include VEIS (Vent-Enter-Isolate-Search), oriented searches, and searching with a water can. These methods are employed to efficiently locate victims, assess hazards, and facilitate safe removal, often in challenging conditions like low visibility and high heat.

Making 2025 the Year to Update Your Business Plan

Small businesses must be agile and responsive to change. A business plan is not a one-time document—it should evolve with your business. This two-hour workshop provides a focused opportunity to revisit, revise, or rewrite your plan for the next two years.

Structure: We’ll walk through each section of a business plan together, with time for discussion and Q&A. Before the session, attendees will receive a checklist of materials to bring, ensuring a productive, goal-oriented experience.

Takeaway: A refreshed business plan with clearly defined goals and objectives for the next 18 months.

OSHA 10

This course provides students with knowledge of workplace safety and health standards as shown by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Over 10 hours of instruction, students will learn to identify and mitigate common hazards, including electrical, chemical, and ergonomic risks, and know the rights and responsibilities of employees and employers. Those entering the workforce in different industries, this course emphasizes safety awareness and incident prevention.

Upon completion, students will receive an OSHA 10-Hour General Industry This OSHA 10-Hour General Industry course provides students with essential workplace safety and health knowledge, focusing on hazard identification, prevention, and OSHA regulations. The course is designed for individuals working in general industry settings such as manufacturing, healthcare, warehousing, and retail. Throughout the course, students will explore key topics, including an introduction to OSHA, workers' rights, employer responsibilities, walking and working surfaces, electrical safety, hazard communication, personal protective equipment (PPE), machine guarding, and emergency action plans. Instruction will be delivered through interactive lectures, case studies, and real-world scenarios to reinforce hazard recognition and safe work practices. Students will receive an OSHA 10-Hour General Industry completion card, demonstrating their understanding of workplace safety principles. This credential enhances employability and ensures compliance with safety standards in various industries.

Day Trip - The Great Dickens Christmas Faire

The Great Dickens Christmas Faire is a one-of-a-kind immersive holiday adventure into Victorian London ~  an elaborate holiday party with hundreds of costumed players performing and interacting with patrons in over 140,000 square feet of theatrically-lit music halls, pubs, dance floors, and festive shops. It's a twilight evening in Charles Dickens' London Town - a city of winding lanes filled with colorful characters from both literature and history. Enticing aromas of roasted chestnuts and hearty foods fill the air. Gourmet chefs offer delicious foods from around the world, including English bangers and fish 'n' chips, exotic Greek delicacies, French onion soup, and enticing desserts. Cries of street vendors hawking their wares ring out above the bustling crowd. Dozens of lamplit shops are filled to overflowing with handmade gifts. The Dickens Christmas Fair is a treasured Bay Area tradition since 1970 and a splendid way to celebrate the holidays.

Siskiyou EDC - Wildland Firefighting Procurement

This two-part series will provide small business owners who are interested in becoming a vendor for Cal Fire and the US Forest Service.

Session 1 will focus on the US Forest Service and the Virtual Incident Procurement (VIPR) system. This is the system the US Forest Service utilizes to develop blanket purchase agreements during the off-season, typically January through March. Participants will understand how to navigate the system, what is required to participate, how to register, and how to submit quotes and bids.

Session 2 will focus on the Cal Fire Hired Equipment Program. This is the system the different Cal Fire area units utilize to contract with vendors, which follows a different process than the US Forest Service. This course will also highlight how certifications can assist in the bidding process, how to navigate local area units with assistance from the small business advocate at Cal Fire.

SFT Ethical Leadership for Instructors

Description: This course provides the knowledge and skills needed to identify the value of ethical behavior in instructional settings, describe how ethical norms influence individual ethics, identify a personal ethical perspective and core values and how they impact communication and ethical decision making, and make an ethical decision using an ethical decision-making model, in order to assist in making ethical decisions when faced with an ethical dilemma in an instructional setting and carry out the roles and responsibilities of an SFT instructor in an ethical manner.

Designed For: Individuals who wish to teach State Fire Training courses as a registered instructor and anyone interested in pursuing ethical behavior in an instructional setting.
